A day in the Life of an Affiliate Marketer

Sometimes in a affiliate marketing we feel a bit like the old Dunkin Donuts commercial. We see the owner of the donuts shop continue to say “time to make the donuts”

We see how important consistency is in a business. We need to have a schedule that we can use day by day. The schedule does not have to be the same each day.

As an example my Saturday, after finishing the errand and chores at home I take the time to review other peoples blog and comments. Each one of these can be important to providing organic traffic

1 I start by looking for other blogs that have lots of comments on them. You do not want to waste time on blogs that are never read. Usually I will tell the owners of the blogs what I think about their blog, and where I see need for improvement. Don’t be rude, but give them helpful suggestions. You never know they might beable to help you.

2 Realize that forums are not dead. You might be able to provide useful information for others. A few forums that might be of interest are Quora and Warrior Forum.

3 Respond to legit comments on the platforms you work on. These platforms might include TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, X, LinkedIn or Pinterest. These are a good start, you might know others. You just need to be consistent and persistent in making your comments

4 Don’t forget to make your Shortform Video for the day. Whether you choose to put your face in it or not, short form videos seem to be one of the areas many people are excited about. Don’t worry that your first videos might be bad, as most people will not see them in the beginning. As you get better (with practice), many more will see your videos.

5 You may want to add in once a week a longform videos of 5 minutes or more.

6 Last but not least do not forget to write your blog at least 1x per week. Personally, you may want to make them 500 words or more. Personally I prefer to add in images and channel tags.

On Sunday I usually take a break form marketing other than sending my email and checking my Facebook Leads.

Monday- I feel refreshed for a new week.

As soon as I arrive at the office I check the Facebook, Instagram, YouTube & TikTok for any comments so that I can respond to any inquiries received over the weekend. The next move is checking the facebook Lead Ads to see if they are dying out. If they are, we might try a new headline, or ad creative to boost our results. You see you might have to pivot on a daily basis to find an ad that really works and gathers leads.

At 9:00 we close the affiliate work, and perform the functions of my day job Accounting and  Financial Advisory services.

At 7:00pm it is time to record short form videos for TikTok, Facebook , and YouTube. On Monday night, I laid the ground work for a new youTube channel. It is is title Scott’s online corral. I choose a western theme since we live in the state of Arizona. On Monday I also wrote a new sales page for a membership offer that is in the works. At 8:00 we close down to enjoy time with family.

Tuesday

9:00amCheck the Facebook lead ads and comments on Social Media platforms. Next write the first 1/3 of my blog, and begin think about pictures that would enhance the meaning and attractiveness of the blog. Next I record several short form vidoes on the platforms of choice.

4:00 PM Create  3 new emails for Facebook Leads, Single Optin Leads, and Double optin leads. Use Sendcheckit.com to check email headlines.

Wednesday

9:00am Check Facebook Leads. Decide we need to pivot again because new headline not working as well as the old. Reply to comments on Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. Write another third on blog post describing my model day. I begin to think about new emails for the day.

Back to Day job.

8:00 pm Wrote three emails to add to the Automation sequences, Postes 2 videos to YouTube, and 3 videos to TikTok. Vidoes are now takinging in 800 views per video. The next goal is to hit 900 views.

Thursday

8:45 am Shut down Facebook Lead ads. Need to come up with a new creative. Checked results on TikTok, YouTube and Instagram. Instagram still a slow go. A bit frustrated about that. Post on Skool app to say hi to the community.

Back to Day job.

7:45 PM began to think of ideas for a new blog post. Shut down my Facebook lead ad as it produced no more results. Back to the drawing board, but we had a good two month run on the ad. It produced 214 leads. Wrote some new email for the automation.

Friday

Caught up with emails and wrote three for the automation sequence. Time to think about ending the automation welcome sequence with a tag so that I can send a blast email to those that have finished the sequence.

Caught up with some training videos as I like to make sure I am improving at least 1% per day. Focused on color schemes for online business.

Saturday

Feeling a bit guilty as I took the day off, but on the other side got to spend quality time with family.

Sunday Night

Picked out some color schemes for my brand (Red, Yellow, and Orange). We created an appealing logo with a sunrise or sunset, It could be either. We wanted to elicit happiness with beginnings and endings.

  1. Hello Scott – It sounds like you have an agenda that works for you and I applaud you for sticking to it! Spending our time wisely is such an important skill set that is often forgotten in today’s world. I need to do a better job at cutting out time to do the things that I don’t want to do and doing the things that are uncomfortable. I’m getting better at it, but I still need to work on it. You produced some great ideas on how to stay focused for success. Thanks for this post and for the reminders!

  4. Hi Scott,
It’s great to see how an affiliate marketers week can play out, thanks for sharing. Looks like you’ve had quite a productive week as well! It’s great how you write your blog in parts on more than one day. I tend to write it all on the same day unless it’s a very long post 🙂 I need to get back in gear with videos though. Great work!

  6. Scott,
Sounds like you had a productive week. I see that you shut down your Facebook Lead ads. I have not started that yet and am a little leery of it. I continue to use organic traffic building. I noticed that you are consistent with your day-to-day life. Consistency is key to growing a business.
