Year End Review

As we look at year end it is hard to believe we have been together for the better part of a year.

We have investigated how to put together a winning blog post and how to connect it up with all kinds of technology.

We started the year by learning the basics. Our first goal to find a domain name, and connect it on an online resource called Cloudflare. personally I don’t necessarily understand all that Cloudflare does, but I do understand it protects are domains from vicious attacks by bots and other unwanted visitors. We also learned that for our purposes Cloudflare is without cost.

The domain name we picked is Scottrulon.com. Although there are many domain name registars we picked on call Name Cheap.com to pick out our domain. If you recall a domain is a space you can call home on the internet. We learned how to set up name servers to house and point to our domain. We also set up an email using our own private domain as the core of the email.

Just a little more techie stuff, I promise.

Once all the basics were set up we actually had to creat a blog for someone to come see our creative work. The sofware we used is called Worpress, and it is top of the chain when it come to creating websites for business and other uses.

Our first job was to create a theme. We picked one that is more associated with newspapers because we did not want people to be overly distracted by too many bells and whistles. You will I hope have found our blog to be content rich to help you the reader really dig down and learn how to build a monetized blog site. We also added some sidebar links to help others read our previous blogs, and opt in to our weekly newsletter.
